The Role of Returning the Notes Along the Road
My works contain components similar to that of Basquiat's legal inscriptions, the composition of Cubism, the colors of the Cobra Movement, and Jean Dubuffet's schematic of an eager child, but I have never been concerned about it. Also, I cannot deny that my works follow the footsteps of abstract expressionism because these ideas art part of my personal history as a developing artist.
If reduction and diffusion are the main concepts of contemporary art, the techniques that are a part of my works are also a natural progression. More importantly, what concerns me is the advanced art market's concept an artist's death, and the colors I choose to dab my brush in are more of close to my daily concerns. On the other hand, all I need to say to those that question my work is tell them that I wanted to adorn the art of drawing itself more than anything else.
People have said that my works are not created as a series, but instead as an impromptu journal. That may be presented as a personal documentary. To create a dinner menu, or to express the minor anecdotes of life that occur on a daily basis is enough to create a 365 page impromptu journal, however, for the same artists who have experienced the different 365 days, it is indeed a series of sorts. I am
only concerned about that one fact, and I wanted my works be an illusion series that depicts the new and various dreams I experience each and every day. I wish to confess that I want to talk about the process I took to create my work before even mentioning my life. Life itself does not include its birth and death, but instead it's the middle part between these two thing. To travel would mean that there is a definite starting point and end location, but to drive would have no ending point. The purpose of driving is not concerned with the destination so in that regard it is similar to that of life. If stepping on the accelerator and hitting the breaks are the similarities between all drivers, then being an artist is my similarity with the rest of my peer. I believe my job as an artist is to walk the road between traditional concepts of art and new paradigms. What I mean by new paradigms is not shocking new ideas of creativity, but instead the ability to tell a story about my past experiences as if picking up the notes I dropped along my travels on the road. My impromptu journals are written from my experiences, but only when someone like you <the audience> takes a look at my artwork, that is when the true conversation begins.
